"Gilson Beach" combines colored pencil drawing and digital photography in a finely detailed series print. One in a set of Chicago area illustrations; the artist lives in walking distance of the subject and has drawn the site frequently although always from an unusual perspective.

Ken Feldman’s figurative illustrations evoke a dreamlike impression of strange landscapes and surreal icons. These small, fine prints draw the viewer in for a closer look. Each subject is sketched on location and then re-worked in the studio adding traditional printmaking or computer imaging.

Blurring the lines between design and art, Feldman creates darkly colored archetypes of familiar places and objects. A scenic, and somewhat eerie impression - one can imagine the artist anonymously observing his subjects while drawing them.

Feldman’s intriguing career has wound in and around the commercial art world since the seventies. He has worked as illustrator, teacher and art-entrepreneur. The artist currently resides in Chicago and is the co-founder of Artccentric.
